How to Get Involved
Vehicle owners across the UK can take part in various ways.
Join a Club Run
Lots of classic car and historic vehicle clubs arrange special Drive It Day runs to places of interest. These are often open to non-members, making it easy for anyone to join in.
Visit a Historic Venue That is Participating
Many museums and other venues across the country host Drive It Day events, welcoming visitors to come along and take part.
Take Your Vehicle for a Drive
For those who prefer to drive solo or in small groups, you can simply take your vehicle out for a drive on the day, and display a Drive It Day plate to help spread awareness of the occasion.
National Drive It Day was created by the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs in 2005. It is the occasion when historic vehicle enthusiasts and the public at large have the opportunity to celebrate the One Thousand Mile Trial organised in 1900 to prove the viability of the new invention, the motor vehicle. It’s also a chance to raise awareness and support amongst the public for the historic vehicle movement and keeping transport heritage on UK roads.
